Snap Surveys

Saving your Questionnaire Design as a Template

The Style Templates option in Snap allows you to either apply a template to your current questionnaire, or to save a customised questionnaire as a template for use in another survey. This enables the user to quickly and easily produce professional looking questionnaires.

Creating a personalised template

Step 1

Customise the questionnaire using the Topics menu. For example change the number of columns within certain questions, the font used, the style of the boxes, etc.

Step 2

Where questions have been customised, new unnamed styles will be created (they will be called 'like' a style name in the styles drop down list). You must name the unnamed styles, as otherwise they will not be included in the template.

Step 3

To name an unnamed style, select the question then switch to Style Mode Style Mode icon.

Step 4

Select the Style OrganiserStyle Organiser icon button.

Step 5

Choose the button and name the new style, e.g. Multi Choice 2 Columns.

Step 6

Click OK in the Style Properties window and OK in the Style Organiser.

Step 7

Snap will rename all other styles that have had the same customisation applied to the new style name.

Step 8

Repeat the process for all unnamed styles.

Step 9

Click Design Mode to return to Design Mode the newly named styles will be available in the Style Selection Box.

Step 10

In order to save as a template, select the Style Templates Style Templates icon button .

Step 11

Click Browse... from the Template dialog box.

Step 12

Type in a File Name for the template e.g. House Style.

Step 13

Click Open and then Save

Step 14

The new template is now saved in the Styles folder that is accessed by clicking the Style Templates button Style Templates Icon. This will also include any new question styles that have been created in the questionnaire.

Step 15

This new template can now be applied to any questionnaire.
The following 3 options will determine how much of the template you wish to apply:

  • Page Setup - portrait/ landscape, etc.
  • Colours - the individual colour for the background/fonts/boxes, etc.
  • Layout - the arrangement and format of individual styles of questions.

If all three options are selected, the entire format of the template will be loaded.
